Request for Firmware v2.x for OS1 Sensor (S/N: 992016000251)

I am currently using an Ouster OS1 sensor with the following system information:

  • Serial Number (SN): 992016000251
  • Firmware Version: v1.14.0-beta.8
  • Hostname: os-992016000251
  • Part Number (PN): 840-102145-B

I would like to use this sensor with the official ROS 2 driver, which requires firmware version 2.0 or later.
However, my current firmware is still v1.x and not compatible with the ROS 2 driver.

Since my hardware is not compatible with firmware v3.x (REV7 required),
I would like to request the latest supported v2.x firmware for this sensor.

Please provide the appropriate firmware file and any instructions necessary for the upgrade.

Did you check the downloads page on Datasheets, CAD files, and guides for our lidar sensor | Ouster ? The earliest FW version that you can get is 2.4, I haven’t specifically seen that part number 840-******-B, but regardless of the exact Rev version that you have (excluding Rev7) v2.4 and v2.5.3 is the last stable firmware to use for older devices.

I tried updating the firmware to v2.4, but an error occured during the process, as shown in the attached screenshot.

Please contact Ouster customer support to help you upgrade to the current FW for your sensor.

To expand on Samahu’s answer, the majority of situations do not need customer support to help with firmware updates and the update process takes 5 minutes or less:

  • Upgrading sensors on a 2.x and 3.x firmware should work seamlessly using the firmware images available on the Downloads page: Datasheets, CAD files, and guides for our lidar sensor | Ouster

  • Upgrading from the deprecated 1.XX firmware versions requires working with Ouster’s customer support, which is the original issue in this thread.

I would like to upgrade FW on my OS1 FW v 1.9 as well. I tried to create a support ticket on Ouster’s Customer support - I got a message that the ticket was created, but when I went to see the details, it says “Invalid page“. Please, can you help me solve this issue?

I too am facing the similar situation. I have an Ouster OS1 Gen 1-16 LiDAR, with v1.13.0. I would like to run this LiDAR with ROS2, hence I need to upgrade the firmware. I have registered myself with tech support ( Ouster Customer Community ). Any help from the Ouster folks is greatly appreciated, thank you.
