OS1 - 128 Rev D compatibility with Newer Interface Box

Hello, I recently got my hands on an Ouster OS1 - 128 Rev D model. Unfortunately the buy was on Ebay and among a missing heat sink mount, the Interface box is of a newer version making the question of compatibility with this older difficult. For reference, here is the sensor and interface box:

The Rev D datasheet expects a 22-26V DC, 24V nominal, consuming 14-20W, with startup of 22W. The interface box is labeled 24V. Good sign that voltages match, and connectors appear compatible.

My question is: will this newer IB work with this older sensor.

I’ve turned on the IB resulting in a green light. I’m pretty new to LiDAR and optics in general, so any direction not pertaining to the question above is also welcomed, thanks!

Hello GLman

The interface box you have fits with the RevD requirements.

However, please keep in mind that the RevD connector is an old one and is made of zinc. If your interface box is new, the connector is made of stainless steel. This may create a material mismatch between the cable connector and the lidar connector.

Over time, this galvanic mismatch can lead to contact corrosion.

Thank you.
