Issue with Frame Drops on Windows 11 Home & Pro using Ouster Studio 2.0.4 with OS0-128/OS1-128 Sensors

When using Ouster Studio 2.0.4 on Windows 11 Home and Pro with OS0-128 or OS1-128 sensors, frame drops occur, as shown in the attached video.(attached the link)

The sensor is running with the default config (V3.1.0 Rev7).

When using Ouster Studio 4.2.1 or Ouster SDK 0.14.0, the frame drop issue does not occur.

In Windows 11 Home, I cannot find options for “Receive Buffers” or “Interrupt Moderation” in the network adapter properties. I am using TCP autotuning with the following commands:

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=experimental
Despite this, the frame drop issue persists.

Has anyone else experienced the same issue with Ouster Studio 2.0.4 on Windows? How can this be resolved? There are no frame drops with channels other than 128, such as OS1-32-SR or OS-32-SR.

This could mean either that your network adapter doesn’t support configuring these properties or perhaps the system didn’t properly identify the network device. But it is more likely that your network card is not support it.

@Samahu Thank you for your reply! You mentioned that the network card may not support it, but the issue of data drop does not occur with the older versions of Ouster Studio 4.2.1 or Ouster SDK 0.14.0. The frame drop issue only occurs with the newer version, Ouster Studio 2.0.4, which is difficult to understand. My network card is as shown in the attached photo. Is there a performance guide or specification for the network card?

I was mainly responding to the note why your network card doesn’t seem to allow you configure Receive Buffer size because I had one of these. Using a different network adapter I was able to configure receive buffer size on the same Windows machine.

With regard to frame drop on newer versions of Ouster Studio I will make our Team aware of the issue and address it as soon as possible.

@Samahu I wasn’t aware of the meaning of changing the network adapter as I have never tried it before. Thank you for letting me know. I also appreciate you sharing the frame drop issue with your team.

Hi @tech, thanks for letting us know about this issue. Can you please try out our latest release of Ouster Studio 2.0.6? We released this update on Friday and although it might not completely solve your issue we have made progress minimizing packet drops on Windows.

You can find the download here Ouster Studio: Simplified Lidar Sensor Visualization Software | Ouster

Please let us know how it goes, thanks!
