BlueCity Edge PC: high network traffic even when no objects are detected

Hi everyone,

We’re using Ouster BlueCity at a test intersection, with the Edge PC sending output to a Commsignia RSU.

We’re noticing substantial continuous network traffic from the Edge PC, even when BlueCity shows no detected objects.

Our setup:

  • Two LiDAR sensors connected to a separate, isolated sensor network.

  • The Edge PC (with client /perception v2.10.0) output and RSU connected through an industrial Fortinet switch with fiber connectivity.

  • Approximately 60% utilization reported on the Fortinet switch when intersection empty, no objects detected.

We’re trying to understand whether this traffic is expected and which outputs are actually needed for the RSU integration.

Could someone clarify:

  1. What output bandwidth and packet rate should we expect when no objects are detected?

  2. Does BlueCity continuously transmit empty object lists, diagnostics, heartbeats, or other streams under these conditions?

  3. Which settings in Perception or Lidar Hub should we check to identify unnecessary streams and reduce traffic while preserving the required RSU output?

Any documentation or recommended troubleshooting steps would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Alex
